Andrew Bartlett is celebrating after his ROAM app was named “Best Marketing Initiative” in the Teesdale Business Awards last week.

ROAM has been designed to help local businesses in any location build loyalty and drive footfall to the high street, and was named the winner at the awards ceremony in Barnard Castle. The prize was sponsored by Digital Drive County Durham, and presented by digital advisor Stephen Fenwick.

“Helping high-street businesses grow”

Andrew, who is also marketing consultant at CannyInsights.com, said:

“It was a real privilege to attend the business awards, and an even greater privilege to win the award for the best marketing initiative – being recognised for the four years of hard work I have been doing in the North East, helping high-street businesses grow.

“There has been a lot of patience and persistence from me along the way, but now the methods to my madness are starting to bear fruit!

“I realise that the idea of saving this nation’s high streets is an ambitious idea, but we can now say that the ROAM app – the country’s very own town app – is now an award-winning business with even more to bring to the table in the years to come!”

Free for consumers and businesses

ROAM is free for consumers to download, for either iOS or Android devices, and it is also free for businesses to claim and manage their listings.

Bricks-and-mortar businesses, such as shops, cafes, bars and cultural venues, can tailor their listings with images and other information to show themselves off in the most effective way. Through push notifications, the app lets these businesses communicate directly to their customers any news, offers, events or loyalty rewards that they have available.

Four push notifications a month are included for free; businesses can purchase affordable bundles of extra notifications if they wish to communicate with their customers more frequently.

CannyInsights.com partnership

Since launching ROAM, Andrew has successfully built relationships with businesses and towns across the North East, and, since December 2019, has been working in partnership with Graham Soult of CannyInsights.com to grow awareness and adoption of the ROAM app nationwide.

Graham said: “Andrew is smart, resourceful, and passionate about the high street, and I’m delighted that his hard work in creating and marketing ROAM has been recognised through this award.

“Digital tools like ROAM play a big part in raising awareness of what bricks-and-mortar businesses offer, helping those businesses reach new customers and bringing people back to the high street.

“Working with Andrew is already a pleasure, but it’s now even better to be able to say that ROAM is an award-winning product!”
